New Providence Chiropractic Helps Make Wishes Come True (September 3, 2013)
Remember as a child, marveling at bedtime stories about fairy godmothers and magical genies? Remember as a teenager wishing you could make your dreams come true? “Well now you can play a significant and personal role in ensuring that an ill child’s fondest wish will come true,” says Dr. Mark Schlobohm. Where Dreams Come True is a community-wide effort, sponsored by New Providence Chiropractic, which raises funds to contribute to the Make-A-Wish Foundation of New Jersey’s remarkable mission.
The Make-A-Wish Foundation of New Jersey is dedicated to improving the quality of life of ill children by creating unforgettable, once in a lifetime experiences for children and their families that may not be able to spend many more tomorrows together. Wishes have been fulfilled for children diagnosed with severe medical conditions such as cancer, muscular dystrophy, leukemia, AIDS, cystic fibrosis, brain tumors, and heart disease.
“The Make-A-Wish Foundation’s mission of granting a sick child’s fondest wish personally inspired me to want to do as much as possible to aid them in their commendable mission. My family endured a personal tragedy with the illness of our nine-year-old niece, Sydney. The miraculous efforts of all of the tireless volunteers at the Make-A-Wish Foundation granted her an incredible experience before she lost her battle with a brain tumor in 2005. Having a wish come true can be an integral part of the healing process for a child battling a life-threatening illness and a wonderful, much needed reprieve for the family,” explains Schlobohm.
It is because of this unique type of healing that New Providence Chiropractic has decided to sponsor Where Dreams Come True, a community-wide effort in order to fulfill the wish of an ill child in the community. New Providence Chiropractic is offering to all new patients a complimentary first day’s services which includes: case history, chiropractic exam, X-rays (if needed), and report of findings on a subsequent visit (a $420 value) in exchange for a minimum donation of $25 to the Make-A-Wish Foundation of New Jersey during the entire month of September.
“No matter what the wish is, it is important to understand that the benefits of a wish go far beyond the pleasure of that moment. New Providence Chiropractic is dedicated to helping the Make-A-Wish Foundation create very important memories for sick children and their families,” says Schlobohm.
For more information, to make a donation, or to schedule a new patient appointment please call New Providence Chiropractic at 908-665-1818 or email firstname.lastname@example.org. Appointments are limited.
American Medical Association Recommends Chiropractic Before Resorting to Surgery (June 4, 2013)
The American Medical Association has recommended to those patients who seek back pain treatment to consider chiropractic care before taking invasive measures such as electing for surgery. Surgery should only be considered if conservative therapies fail. These conservative alternatives should be the first “line of defense” because they are safer and more efficient in relieving pain. The back is made up of bones, muscles, and nerves that help support posture and your flexibility. Back pain is usually caused by a strain of a muscle or any problem with these structures within the back. The pain can be anything from dull or sharp pain in your back or tingling or numbness that runs down your leg. These symptoms are usually signs of a pinched nerve which occurs when the disc bulges out and puts extra pressure on the nerve that is exiting between the vertebrae. This is often caused by what Doctors of Chiropractic treatment refer to as a subluxation.
What should you do if you exhibit any of these symptoms?
Well, luckily Chiropractors are neuromusculoskeletal experts and are well suited to treat back pain and relieve nerve pressure. They are also experts in preventing these problems so you shouldn’t wait till you have pain to see a chiropractor. Dr. Mark Schlobohm stresses the importance of using chiropractic and other conservative methods of pain relief because “in many cases pain can be alleviated without the use of unnecessary drugs or surgery, so it makes sense to exhaust conservative options first.” There is also plenty of research that suggests chiropractic care is not only clinically effective but also cost-effective.
How can you prevent back problems?
The key to avoiding these problems is preventing it before it happens. In a study of 10,000 adults, 1 in every 3 suffers from neck pain and 85% suffer with back pain. These statistics show that you have a high probability of suffering from some kind of spinal pain in your lifetime. Your back and abdominal muscles are trained to maintain posture so it is very important to exercise good posture in order to maintain proper back health. You need to develop proper techniques especially when participating in strenuous activities such as heavy lifting. It is important to bend your knees and turn your whole body so the pressure isn’t all on your back. Chiropractic care can show you how to properly maintain back health and prevent the possibility of spinal issues. Surgery should always be a last resort because there is a higher chance of failure. If you have or have had lower back pain or any other spinal issues, please follow the advice of the AMA and see a chiropractor first!
NEW PROVIDENCE CHIROPRACTIC DECLARES
2013 A Year of Wishes
Dr. Mark Schlobohm, Director of New Providence Chiropractic, declares 2013 a Year Of Wishes. “In these difficult economic times, it is even more important to make health a priority. Stress and rising health care costs have had a major effect on all of us”, comments Dr. Schlobohm. “Clinical research shows that the majority of chronic illnesses in the United States, such as heart disease, some cancers, diabetes, obesity, back pain, neck pain and headaches can be avoided by preventative health care. 75% of an individual’s health after age 40 is dependent on lifestyle and not genetic predisposition to these major illnesses.”
A Year for Healing and Prevention will first target a cure for pediatric brain tumors. “I urge you to join me in the fight against brain tumors. We need to bring attention to this under-funded disease. My niece Sydney was eight years old when she was diagnosed with a brain stem glioma. She passed away six months later. It’s too late for Sydney; however, our family continues to support those working to find a cure. Sydney’s courage inspires us to take action in the fight against brain tumors.”

“During the Year for Healing and Prevention we will be conducting fund raising events for cures that afflict our most important asset, our children, while helping the community achieve better health with Chiropractic care. Several times throughout the year we will exchange our services for donations to find cures for pediatric illnesses. We will also continue to raise funds for the Make a Wish foundation as they help children by granting wishes to children with life-threatening medical conditions.”
“I’m pleased to give the community my services as a Thank You for contributing to this cause. This is a great time to start the New Year feeling better. Join our Miracle Year for Wellness and help us find a cure!
